a road with cars alongside the Mississippi river

Bloganuary 2022 – Day 2

What is a road trip you would love to take?

Well now, this is a prompt after my own heart! There are so many road trips I want to (and plan to!) take, but if I had to pick just one, I’ll go with the Great River Road. The Great River Road follows the Mississippi River through 10 states spanning around 3,000 miles. This road trip isn’t a single road, like Route 66, but a series of roads that roughly follow the river from its headwaters in in Minnesota to the mouth in Louisiana.

The Great River Road’s site estimates the drive to be 36 hours. They say most people take four to 10 days to complete the journey.

But, I know if I’m towing my trailer, I prefer to drive no more than 3-4 hours of driving a day, and of course I want to stop and see as many things as possible, so I’d probably turn this into a trip that would take me a month or two. And then, I’d stay in Louisiana for as long as I could after that before starting my next adventure.

What is Bloganuary?

In an effort to blog more frequently, I joined WordPress’s Bloganuary challenge for 2022. Each day I’ll receive a prompt for something to write about.
